Postmarks connects to Apple Health (on iOS) or Google Fit (on Android) to read your daily step count. We use this data to calculate your progress along walking routes. You remain in full control — you can revoke access at any time in your device settings, and we never store raw step data on our servers.
Six routes are live: Heart of Honshu (Tokyo → Fukuoka, free), Pacific Coastline (Tokyo → Shimoda), Ancient Capitals (Kyoto → Okayama), Snow Country (Tokyo → Sapporo), Kyushu Circuit (Fukuoka → Kagoshima), and Korea Discovery (Busan → Seoul). Taiwan Loop, Sake & Mountains, Kansai Explorer, and more are on the way.
Nope! Postmarks works in the background. Just walk normally with your phone in your pocket or bag, and your steps will sync when you open the app. We recommend opening the app once a day to log your journey and keep your streak alive.
Premium unlocks all routes across Japan, Korea, Taiwan and beyond, After Dark journeys (walk any route in night mode with its own stamp collection), special seals for hitting your daily step goal, and passport & journal customization. The free version includes one route — Heart of Honshu. You can upgrade anytime from the app.
Your streak increases each day you open the app and log your journey. Keep your streak alive to unlock special achievements and rare stamps. If you miss a day, your streak resets — but don't worry, you can always start a new one!
Secret stops are hidden milestones between major cities that reward curious walkers. They're not shown on the main map — you'll discover them as you walk. Each secret stop unlocks a special journal entry and a unique stamp.
You can delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen in the app. This will permanently remove your stamps, journal entries, and route progress. If you need help, email us at hello@getpostmarks.com.
